The Ellis 9400 variable speed drill press is aimed at industrial work and professional fabrication shops. A 2 HP, 110 V motor runs it under electronic speed control from 0 to 1200 RPM, and it drills up to 1-1/16 in. in steel and 1-1/4 in. in cast iron and taps up to 3/4 in.
Its 4 in. diameter column and 3 in. diameter quill keep the machine rigid when drilling heavy-duty material. The spindle has a Morse No. 3 taper and 5.375 in. of travel, the table measures 15.875 in., and the maximum spindle-to-table distance is 27.25 in. Both the table and the base have 1/2 in. T-slots for flexible mounting.
