ESAB Ruffian ES 150G Gas Welder Generator, 150A DC Stick, 4.5 kW Starting Power

The ESAB Ruffian ES 150G is a gas welder generator that pairs an inverter DC stick welder with an AC generator on a wheeled frame. It delivers up to 150 A at 60% duty cycle, and its 14 HP Kohler engine provides up to 4.5 kW of starting power at 120 and 240 VAC for tools, lights and emergency backup.

Stick (SMAW) output covers 20-150 A (20.8-26 VDC) with a 78 V open-circuit voltage, and adjustable Arc Force helps tune the arc, particularly with 6010 electrodes. Generator voltage is independent of the welding current, so grinders, hand tools and even light-duty MIG/TIG welders or plasma cutters can run without touching the weld settings. Outlets are four 20 A GFCI receptacles at 120 VAC plus a 240 VAC 6-50R, all behind a circuit breaker and covers.

Power comes from an air-cooled Kohler Command PRO CH440 gasoline engine with a 5-gallon fuel tank and an engine hour meter, and thermal protection covers both the welder and the generator. Large industrial wheels hold the frame high off the ground, and the removable handles balance the load when moving across a job site. The enclosure is rated IP23S, and the unit weighs 248.0 lbs (112.5 kg) with wheels and handles or 223.8 lbs (101.5 kg) without.
