The Hobart AirForce 27i plasma cutter is a 19 lb dual-voltage air plasma cutter that plugs into 120 V or 240 V power through its multi-voltage plug (MVP) and makes clean cuts in 3/8 in. steel. Cutting current runs from 14 to 30 A, and the package includes a 12 ft XT30R hand-held torch, a 12 ft work cable with clamp and extra consumables.
The 10 ft power cord comes with a 5-15P plug for 120 V, 15 A outlets and a 6-50P plug for 240 V, 50 A outlets, so changing supplies takes no tools. Rated output at 104 °F is 27 A at 92 VDC and a 35% duty cycle on 120 V (20 A), or 30 A at 92 VDC and a 40% duty cycle on 240 V. Power factor correction helps with extension-cord use and nuisance breaker trips, line voltage compensation holds performance through +/- 15% input swings, and the unit runs from an engine-driven welder with a 240 V receptacle of 4 kW or more.
The XT30R torch adds comfort with an ergonomic safety trigger, better cooling and economical replacement tips, and a postflow cooling circuit extends consumable and torch life after the trigger is released. Wind Tunnel Technology keeps abrasive dust away from internal components, Fan-On-Demand runs the cooling fan only when needed, starts need no high frequency, and LED lights flag pressure, power and cup problems. The unit measures 13.25 x 5.5 x 9 in. (L x W x H), carries on a strap and suits farm and ranch, auto repair, manufacturing and fabrication work.
