The Hypertherm Powermax85 SYNC plasma cutter in this mechanized package pairs the CPC-port power source with a 25 ft 180° SmartSYNC machine torch, a work clamp on a 25 ft lead and a remote on/off pendant. It cuts and gouges up to 1 in. (25 mm) on 200-600 V single- or three-phase power, with two 85 A mechanized cartridges and one 45-85 A FineCut mechanized cartridge supplied.

The 180° machine torch is built for mechanized plasma cutting. Like every SmartSYNC torch, it picks up the RFID data on its single-piece cartridge and passes it to the power source, which sets up the process automatically. A sensor in the torch cap checks that the cartridge is seated properly, and both the torch and the power source detect a worn-out cartridge, which then stays flagged as spent and cannot be used again. Color-coded cartridges come in hand, gouging, mechanized/stand-off and FlushCut/HyAccess types, with consumable life data tracking.

Input is 200-600 V, single- or three-phase, at 50-60 Hz. The power source weighs 67 lbs and measures 19.7 x 9.2 x 17.9 in. (L x W x H). Travel speed is 20 ipm on 1 in. metal, and the recommended air supply is 85 psi (5.9 bar) at 400 scfh (6.7 scfm). End-of-life detection switches off when a Fine Cut hand cartridge is fitted, when amperage is set below 40 A, or when output is below 55 A without cartridge communication.
