The Hypertherm Powermax65 SYNC plasma cutter is a professional air plasma system with a 3/4 in. (20 mm) recommended cut, 1-1/4 in. (32 mm) hand-cutting severance and gouging capability. It delivers 20-65 A on 200-480 V single-phase or 200-600 V three-phase CSA input, and this configuration comes with a 25 ft hand torch.

RFID-enabled SmartSYNC torches set the process up automatically, and single-piece, laser-marked and color-coded cartridges provide trackable usage data that helps with consumable inventory. End-of-life detection shows when a cartridge needs changing. Recommended cutting is 3/4 in. at 20 ipm, 1 in. (25 mm) cuts run at 10 ipm, and the pierce rating is 5/8 in. (16 mm) for handheld cutting or for mechanized cutting with programmable torch height control.

Maximum-removal gouging typically removes 8.8 lbs of metal per hour in a 0.11 x 0.25 in. groove. The CSA unit weighs 61 lbs with its 25 ft torch, measures 19 x 9.2 x 17 in. (D x W x H) with handles, rates 9 kW of output at 91.2% electrical efficiency and needs 15 kW from an engine drive for the full 65 A. It runs on clean, dry, oil-free air or nitrogen at an optimum 110-120 psi, with a 75 psi minimum.
