The Hypertherm Powermax65 SYNC plasma cutter in this CSA configuration combines a CPC port with a 180° machine torch on a 25 ft (7.6 m) lead for mechanized cutting, and the system also gouges. Output is 20-65 A, the recommended cut is 3/4 in. (20 mm) at 20 ipm, and input is 200-480 V single-phase or 200-600 V three-phase.

Beyond the recommended rating it cuts 1 in. (25 mm) at 10 ipm, and hand-cutting severance reaches 1-1/4 in. (32 mm) at 5 ipm. With a mechanized torch under programmable torch height control, pierce capacity is 5/8 in. (16 mm). Maximum-removal gouging typically clears 8.8 lbs of metal per hour in a groove about 0.11 in. deep and 0.25 in. wide. Hypertherm says its cartridges hold cut quality better over their life in mechanized work than standard consumables do.

SmartSYNC torches and cartridges use RFID to choose the amperage and operating mode on their own, and end-of-life detection shows when a cartridge needs changing. The IGBT inverter power supply is rated 9 kW at 139 VDC, and an engine drive must supply 15 kW for the full 65 A. Gas can be clean, dry, oil-free air or nitrogen, ideally at 110-120 psi and never below 75 psi. With handles the unit measures 19 x 9.2 x 17 in. (D x W x H), and it weighs 61 lbs with the 25 ft torch (CSA).
