The Hypertherm Powermax85 SYNC plasma cutter power supply in this CSA version takes 200-600 V single- or three-phase input and includes a CPC port. The air plasma system is rated for gouging and a recommended cut of up to 1 in. (25 mm), and its SmartSYNC torches and single-piece cartridges use RFID to set the amperage and operating mode automatically.

Laser marking and color coding identify each plasma cartridge by process, which prevents mix-ups between parts. The system flags a cartridge that has reached end of life, and per-cartridge usage data helps with consumable inventory management. Hypertherm rates the cartridge design for up to twice the life of standard consumables in handheld cutting and for better quality over its life in mechanized setups.

Hand torches for the system use a newer flexible lead intended to reduce operator fatigue, with a jacket as robust as the earlier one. Torch styles can be swapped, and cartridges are made for specific cutting and gouging applications. SmartSYNC torches are built for tough industrial settings, and SpringStart technology gives consistent starting.
