JET JDP-20S 20 in. Smart Floor Drill Press, Variable Speed, 1.5 HP, 115V

The JET JDP-20S is a 20 in. smart floor drill press driven by a 1.5 HP brushless motor and run from a 5 in. touchscreen that guides RPM setup. Spindle speed is continuously variable from 150 to 3000 RPM, spindle travel is 6 in., and the 20 x 14 in. cast iron table tilts 90 degrees left and right. JET aims it at professionals, schools and serious woodworkers.

The touchscreen holds 22 tool profiles plus as many as 15 user presets, and it adds auto-start, reverse spindle rotation and readouts in decimal, fractional or metric units; a manual dial can set the speed as well. A built-in password lock limits who can run the machine. Depth stops work electronically or by hand, and crosshair lasers with LED lighting help line up each hole.

This variable speed drill press uses heavy-duty cast iron construction, from the tilting table down to the base, and its column measures 3.35 in. in diameter. Chuck size is 5/8 in., and the maximum spindle-to-table distance is 27.6 in. The single-phase motor comes prewired for 115 V and has a motor current of 13/6.5 A; a 20 A circuit is recommended.
