Lincoln Electric Activ8X Pipe Wire Feeder, STT and Pulsed MIG, CrossLinc, Tweco
The Lincoln Electric Activ8X Pipe is a portable wire feeder for MIG (GMAW) and flux-cored (FCAW) pipeline welding in the field. It brings root-to-cap processes such as STT and pulsed MIG to the job site, CrossLinc Technology puts voltage or current adjustment at the arc with no control cable, and the rugged, compact design copes with mud, rain, heat and cold. This is the Tweco version.
Weld modes are tuned for cross-country pipe welding with common filler metals, wire diameters and gas mixtures. The STT Field and CV/pulse modes (STT stands for Surface Tension Transfer) aim at sidewall fusion, backbead reinforcement and bead profile from root to cap. Cable View Technology keeps reading cable inductance and reshapes the waveform to match, holding arc performance steady with no additional sense lead.
Setup from truck to ditch is quick: two standard quick-connect weld cables link the feeder to the power source. Up to four memories store settings for fast process changes between root, fill and cap passes, and the lightweight feeder is built on Lincoln's portable feeder platform to stand up to field construction conditions.
