Lincoln Electric Frontier 400X Pipe Diesel Welder Generator, Perkins, K3485-1

The Lincoln Electric Frontier 400X Pipe (K3485-1, Perkins) is a pipeline-focused diesel welder generator with a dedicated Pipe mode that uses DigFX technology to give a smooth, classic DC-style arc on downhill pipe. It delivers up to 400 A (IEC rated 325 A) and 11 kW of continuous three-phase power from a 24.7 hp turbocharged Perkins engine.

Pipe mode is exclusive to the Frontier 400X Pipe. Alongside it sit optimized CC and CV modes and specialized modes for mechanized equipment and advanced GMAW work such as STT and pulse welding, and the machine also takes on carbon arc gouging. Auxiliary power is available at 240 VAC three-phase as well as 120/240 VAC single-phase, and the 7 in. digital interface stores weld parameter memories, issues maintenance reminders and supports optional PIN authorization.

The turbocharged Perkins 403F-15T meets EPA Tier 4 Final and is built for cold-weather starts and high-altitude work, while a 20 gal. (75.7 L) fuel tank and Auto-Stop/Start reduce idling and fuel use. CrossLinc gives voltage or current control at the arc through the standard weld cable, True Voltage Technology (TVT) offsets voltage drop, and patented Chopper Technology completes the engine-driven welder.
