Lincoln Electric Tomahawk 1500 Plasma Cutter, 100A, Power Source Only, K2809-1

The Lincoln Electric Tomahawk 1500 plasma cutter power source is a heavy-duty 100 A constant-current inverter for hand-held cutting and gouging, rated 100 A at 60% duty cycle on three-phase input. It is recommended for 3/4 in. mild steel, with a maximum severance of 1 1/2 in., and this version has no torch.

Rated output depends on the supply: three-phase 200-208 V, 230 V or 380-415 V gives 60 A at 100%, 80 A at 80% and 100 A at 60%; 230 V single-phase gives 60 A at 100% and 80 A at 80%; and 200-208 V single-phase gives 60 A at 100% and 80 A at 60%. Output adjusts from 20 to 100 A with DC- polarity, and the plasma cutter runs on air or nitrogen at 87-109 psi (6.0-7.5 bar).

Touch-start arc initiation avoids many of the failure problems of high-frequency start systems, and Parts-in-Place blocks cutting or gouging until the consumables are in place. An air regulator, pressure gauge and internal water separator are standard, a work clamp with cable and an input power cord are included, and the work lead uses a Dinse connector. The IP23 rating suits outdoor as well as indoor work, and hand-held cuts reach 1 1/4 in. (31.8 mm).
