Miller Filtair MWX-S Mobile Fume Extractor, 12 ft Arm, Self-Cleaning Filter

The Filtair MWX-S is a mobile 115 V fume extractor designed for welding, with a self-cleaning FilTek XL filter that is cleaned by a push-button pulse cycle. This version has a 12 ft extraction arm, 8 in. in diameter, and moves 875 CFM; it suits fabrication shops, repair work, manufacturing and training centers.

FilTek XL media is made for welding fume; it is said to last up to 2 times as long as treated cellulose filters and to capture as much as 95% of weld fume particulate. On the MWX-S, pressing a button on the control panel runs an inside-out pulse cleaning cycle, and the particulate it removes is deposited in the disposal drawer; the cleaning mechanism needs a dry compressed air supply.

The cabinet is metal, with a locking hinged filter hatch for tool-free filter changes, a built-in tool tray, a power switch and a color-coded pressure gauge that shows when the cartridge filter needs cleaning. Large rear wheels let the unit cross weld cables and move between work cells, and lockable swivel casters keep it still while the arm is adjusted.
