Miller Filtair SWX-S Wall-Mount Welding Fume Extractor, 12 ft ZoneFlow Arm, 115V
The Miller Filtair SWX-S is a wall-mount welding fume extractor with a self-cleaning MERV 15 filter, and this package adds a 12 ft ZoneFlow source-capture arm, 8 in. in diameter. ZoneFlow gives the arm a much wider capture area than other source-capture designs, and the blower fan, rated at 1,200 CFM, delivers an accu-rated minimum of 875 CFM at the hood.
The ZoneFlow suction head sets up a negative-pressure zone that draws air in toward the arm's center from a greater distance, which makes it more effective than ambient fume extraction. The arm rotates 360 degrees, so the hood needs fewer adjustments and welding stretches run longer. Along with the 115 V blower, on/off and cleaning control boxes and mounting bracket, the package adds a ZoneFlow motor control box; the arm comes in 10 and 12 ft lengths, and this version has the 12 ft arm.
Self-cleaning models like this one suit high arc-on time, heavy-fume processes and aluminum welding or galvanized material, and they are recommended for most dual-arm setups. A push of a button runs a one-minute cleaning cycle that sends fume particles to an integrated bin, and the latched disposal drawer slides out for emptying; compressed air is required. The 1 HP, 3450 RPM motor runs on 115 V, 1-phase, 60 Hz at approximately 11.9 A, the sound level is about 80 dBA at 5 ft, and the cabinet measures 33 x 27.25 x 33 in. and weighs 195 lbs; 115 V wiring is not included.
