Miller Maxstar 161 S Stick Welder Package, 120/240V, 20-160A, 907709

The Miller Maxstar 161 S is a 13 lb inverter stick welder for 120 V or 240 V power, and this Stick Package comes with a 13 ft electrode holder, a 10 ft work clamp and separate input cords for each voltage. It runs E6010 electrodes, takes rods up to 5/32 in. and welds steel from .020 to 3/16 in. thick with up to 160 A on 240 V.

Each voltage has its own 6.5 ft (2 m) primary cord, and either one unplugs from the rear panel without tools. On 120 V the stick range is 20-90 A with a 30% duty cycle at 90 A; on 240 V it is 20-160 A with 20% at 160 A. Open-circuit voltage is 48 VDC, the input is single-phase at 50/60 Hz, and the leads connect through 25 mm Dinse-style connectors.

Adaptive Hot Start helps hard-to-strike electrodes light without sticking, and the Stick-Stuck function cuts output when a rod fuses to the part so it can be freed safely. Settings go through a digital meter interface: press the menu button for the process, hold it 1 second for the user menu and turn the encoder to adjust. This stick-only (SMAW) model cannot TIG weld; it is aimed at mobile fabrication and MRO, process pipe and stainless steel, with users in aerospace and shipbuilding.
