Miller Maxstar 161 STH Pulsed DC TIG/Stick Welder, 120/240V, 5-160A, 907711

The Miller Maxstar 161 STH is a 13 lb DC TIG/stick inverter welder with TIG pulse up to 150 pulses per second, running on 120 V or 240 V through separate input cords. TIG output goes as low as 5 A for thin material, both high-frequency and Lift-Arc starts are offered, and a built-in gas solenoid means the torch needs no gas valve.

TIG output spans 5-130 A on 120 V and 5-160 A on 240 V, and stick spans 20-90 A and 20-160 A, with duty cycle of 30% at 90 A (120 V) and 20% at 160 A (240 V). The process menu offers High-Frequency TIG, Lift-Arc TIG, Stick and 6010 Stick. Output is DC only, so the machine cannot TIG weld aluminum; it welds steel from 0.020 in. to 3/16 in. thick, as well as stainless steel.

No TIG torch comes in this package; instead it includes an air-cooled TIG torch connector (195234), 6.5 ft input cords for 120 V and 240 V, a 13 ft stick electrode holder, a 10 ft work clamp and the shoulder strap and handle. Adaptive Hot Start and Stick-Stuck help with stick (SMAW) starts and stuck rods, and Pro-Set supplies preset parameters; setup runs through a digital meter interface with a menu button and encoder.
