Miller Maxstar 161 STL DC TIG/Stick Welder, X-Case Fingertip Contractor Package
The Miller Maxstar 161 STL is a DC TIG/stick welder, and this X-Case Fingertip Contractor Package builds on the 13 lb Lift-Arc inverter with a 12.5 ft Weldcraft A-150 TIG torch, an RCCS-6M remote fingertip control, an AK2C accessory kit and a protective X-Case. It runs on 120 V or 240 V input and reaches down to 5 A in TIG.
Along with the welder come the 12.5 ft (3.8 m) A-150 torch, the RCCS-6M remote fingertip control (195184) and an AK2C kit with nozzles, collets and collet bodies, a short back cap and 2% ceriated tungsten electrodes in .040, 1/16 and 3/32 sizes. A 13 ft (4 m) stick electrode holder and a 10 ft (3 m) work clamp with 25 mm Dinse-style connectors, 6.5 ft cords for 120 V and 240 V, the Miller X-Case (301429), a handle/shoulder strap and a quick reference guide round out the set.
TIG (GTAW) output covers 5-130 A on 120 V and 5-160 A on 240 V, while stick delivers 20-90 A and 20-160 A, with duty cycle of 30% at 90 A (120 V) and 20% at 160 A (240 V). Arcs start by Lift-Arc, and a built-in gas solenoid means the torch needs no gas valve. Adaptive Hot Start and Stick-Stuck support stick (SMAW) welding, and because the output is DC only, the machine cannot TIG weld aluminum.
