The Miller Maxstar 161 STL is a 13 lb DC TIG/stick inverter welder with Lift-Arc TIG starts, running on 120 V or 240 V through separate input cords. TIG output reaches down to 5 A for thin material, a built-in gas solenoid means the torch needs no gas valve, and this Standard Package supplies the cords, stick electrode holder and work clamp.

In TIG (GTAW) mode, output spans 5-130 A on 120 V and 5-160 A on 240 V; stick spans 20-90 A and 20-160 A, with duty cycle of 30% at 90 A (120 V) and 20% at 160 A (240 V). The machine welds steel from 0.020 in. (0.5 mm) to 3/16 in. (4.8 mm) as well as stainless steel, takes electrodes up to 5/32 in. and suits mobile fabrication and MRO, process pipe and stainless work.

The Standard Package includes the power source, 6.5 ft (2 m) input cords for 120 V and 240 V that detach from the rear panel without tools, a 13 ft (4 m) stick electrode holder and a 10 ft (3 m) work clamp with 25 mm Dinse-style connectors, an air-cooled TIG torch connector (195234), the handle/shoulder strap and a quick reference guide. For stick (SMAW), adaptive Hot Start, Stick-Stuck and E6010 capability are built in, and setup runs through a digital meter interface.
