Miller Maxstar 161 STL DC TIG/Stick Welder, X-Case Contractor Package, 120/240V
The Miller Maxstar 161 STL is a DC TIG/stick welder, and this X-Case Contractor Package builds on the 13 lb Lift-Arc inverter with a 12.5 ft Weldcraft A-150 TIG torch, a regulator/flow gauge with gas hose, an AK2C accessory kit and a protective X-Case. It runs on 120 V or 240 V input and reaches down to 5 A in TIG.
The AK2C accessory kit supplies nozzles, collets and collet bodies, a short back cap and 2% ceriated tungsten electrodes in .040, 1/16 and 3/32 sizes. The 12.5 ft (3.8 m) torch, a 13 ft (4 m) electrode holder for stick fitted with a 25 mm Dinse-style connector, a 10 ft (3 m) work clamp, 6.5 ft input cords for 120 V and 240 V, the Miller X-Case (301429), a handle/shoulder strap and a quick reference guide complete the package.
In TIG (GTAW) mode, output spans 5-130 A on 120 V and 5-160 A on 240 V, and stick runs 20-90 A and 20-160 A at a duty cycle of 30% at 90 A (120 V) and 20% at 160 A (240 V). TIG starts by Lift-Arc, a built-in gas solenoid removes the need for a gas valve on the torch, and adaptive Hot Start and Stick-Stuck help with stick (SMAW) work. Output is DC only, so aluminum cannot be TIG welded.
