The Miller Maxstar 280 with CPS is a 47 lb DC TIG/stick inverter welder with an integrated 120-volt receptacle that can power a Coolmate 1.3 cooler. It delivers 1-280 A, welds steel up to 3/8 in. thick and connects through Auto-Line to single- or three-phase power from 208 to 575 V without manual linking.

The CPS outlet is dedicated to the Coolmate 1.3 and switches on with the welder's power switch, which helps prevent torch failure. As the base Maxstar 280, the machine covers the essential TIG and stick functions through menu-driven controls; the DX model adds preflow, pulser functions, full trigger options and extended sequencer ranges. QuietPulse softens the DC pulse waveform to reduce noise, and Pro-Set offers preset balance, frequency, pulse and DIG values.

For stick (SMAW), DIG arc control runs smooth for 7018 or stiffer and more penetrating for 6010, and adaptive Hot Start gives positive starts without sticking. Processes include DC TIG (GTAW) and air carbon arc (CAC-A) cutting and gouging, and the machine handles steel from 0.004 in. (0.1 mm) to 3/8 in. (9.5 mm) along with stainless and specialty metals. Included are an 8 ft (2.4 m) primary cord, an adjustable shoulder strap and two 50 mm Dinse-style connectors, and dual carry handles help with transport.
