The Miller Spectrum 875 plasma cutter is a compact, portable 51 lb unit that cuts mild steel up to 7/8 in. on standard 230/208 V single-phase power, so it suits job sites and shops that lack three-phase service. The package includes an XT60 hand-held torch on a 20 ft (6 m) cable with a complete set of 60 A consumables, a work clamp and a 10 ft power cord.

Rated output is 50 A at 140 VDC and 60% duty cycle, or 40 A at 100% duty cycle, and the capacity rating assumes a travel speed of about 15 inches per minute. Generator or engine-drive power of 10 kW or more, such as a Miller Bobcat, can run the machine. The ultra-quick connect torch and the quick-connect work lead with its smaller heavy-duty clamp make setup and storage faster, and extra consumables come in the box.

Auto-Refire manages the pilot arc automatically on expanded metal or stacked pieces, and automatic air regulation holds the recommended torch pressure despite changes in supply pressure. Wind Tunnel Technology keeps dirt, dust and debris away from internal components, and the Fan-On-Demand fan switches on only when cooling is needed, which cuts noise, energy use and the contaminants drawn through the machine.
