The Strong Hand Tools Alpha 5/8 welding tabletop measures 8 x 4 ft (96 x 48 in.) and is built as a five-sided steel top. Both the top and side plates are heat-treated steel with a hardness of 550 Vickers, and the 5-1/2 in. side plates meet the top plate for an overall height of 6 in.

The top plates are reversible: each precision-machined, self-locating steel plate can be lifted out and flipped 180 degrees, so a fresh working surface takes the place of a damaged or worn face. On the side plates, an extended 5-borehole pattern adds precision and adjustability when the top serves as a fixture table, and the coating on every plate reaches a case depth of .0004-.0008 in.
