The Walter Icecut 400 (39D400) is a 2000 W magnetic drill with four mechanically controlled, reversible speeds and Dynamax variable speed control. It takes core cutters, also called annular cutters, up to 4 in. (100 mm) in diameter and 4 in. (100 mm) deep, drills up to 1-1/4 in. (31.75 mm) with twist drills, and taps holes through its reverse speed.

Rated at 20 A, the Icecut 400 delivers up to 4950 lbs (2240 kg) of drill point pressure. Powerguard overload protection is set at 24 A for the motor and 27 A electronically, an integrated fuse guards against short circuits, and the Accudrill LED torque display works as an integrated ampmeter. A magnetic field sensor detects the material and its thickness.

The magnet swivels and slides, with 2 in. of sliding travel, and the arbor is a Weldon type with a Morse taper #3. A tool-free press button reverses the handle, with one handle on the main housing and a second at the rear, and the metal guard slides up without tools. Controls are centered on a board of switches with LEDs, wiring runs internally, lubrication is on the motor head, the carbon brushes are easy to reach, and the unit weighs 54.5 lbs (24.8 kg).
